Some of California's educational woes are due to poor voting.

I applaud the efforts of the citizens in Shingletown.

Most urban education woes are due to poor voting as well. Or should I say, to poor choices in voting. If anyone was truly interested in public education reform, it would happen. A public education in any particular state should provide for an equal number of dollars spent on each child. Get rid of the property tax funding local school districts. Have the state "even out" the dollars spent on each child.

If we did this, we'd see reformed schools. We'd also see a lot of middle class people paying to send their kids to private schools.

This is exactly what California did. After which point, California went from third in the nation to 48th for quality education. Prop 13 damaged California.
