My order for affecting the most world change would be the Mauser (while the 98 design misses my mark, this weapon is still the most widely used weapon EVER) So first we have the Mauser Bolt Action Rifle in it's bazillion different forms. Just this design made it the most prevalent.

Next we have the Kalashnikov Assualt Rifle, with over 5 million copies made this rifle has affected more political over throws, conflicts and rebellions than any other weapon. Perfect for the peon, simple, easy to use and clean.

Next we have Fabrique Nationale's FAL. The Free Worlds "AK" adopted by over 93 countries this rifle was used all over the globe to protect the freedom of people.

Next would be the M1 Garand. Assured the US's supremecy in WWII and was the backbone to the US's military might. World War II could not have been won without it.

The Stoner M16. Replaced the M14, a excellent rifle, and the last of the MBR's in the US govt arsenal. An amazing weapon that has predominated over the battle field for the last 40 years. (though i'd like to note that the US has released M14's from it's war stock for use in Afganistan and Iraq)

98 Mauser
Ak-47
FN-FAL
M1 Garand
M16

Now, I would like to note that I don't think these are the greatest weapons, or my favorite, however I think that these have moved the worlds miliarties more than any other weapon. -vitae

AK-47 - amazingly durable, easy to maintain, can punch through trees
Colt 45 - light, accurate and cheap to build
Thompson sub-machine gun - .45 calibre with continuous spray
Maxim MG - lawn mower for men
Phospherous Grenade - murderous in an enclosed space

That WW2 german machine gun. The Schmeiser? That was pretty awesome, the Allied forces would often use these if they captured one off a German, so I hear.

Sub gun or regular. Could have been the MP-40 or a MG-34 or 42. -myers

Anyway, the M16 sucks. One grain of sand in the wrong spot and this rifle was useless. Gotta go with the AK47 as the all around weapon for war.
