Uh, why is this in naturalism?

And, being English myself, I have to agree with the title

Maybe it has something to do with this:

LONDON - In a country which boasts such delicacies as sardines on toast comes the newly crowned finest restaurant in the world -- serving "sardine on toast sorbet."

The Fat Duck, an English countryside former pub, has topped an annual list of the world’s best restaurants, marking a new gastronomic triumph for a country once known for, well, other reasons besides its food.

British restaurants won four of the top 10 spots and 14 of the top 50, beating countries like France and the United States.

Admittedly, “Restaurant” magazine, which compiled the list, is published in London but its selections are based on the opinions of more than 500 industry experts around the world.

The English are the best.
That which exists is better than that which doesn't exist.
Therefore God exists.....and is English.

The problem with Brit food is that when it is good it is superlative, and when it is bad it...it ....words fail me. A lot of British takeaway food is so horrid that it makes mc donalds look like a reasonable alternative. No mean feat that.
But I have had meals in pubs that cost 10 quid that danced on my tongue.

On my last trip we went self catering, so I got a look at what what is available in the UK in Tescos and Morrisons as well as Marks and Sparks food halls I even bought groceries at Harrods. (a lot cheaper than I expected BTW)

There is not a thing wrong with the produce in the UK. So it follows that if the produce in a supermarket is good then the food is going to be just fine as long as you dont overcook it.

Im not surprised that well prepared pub food topped the list even if it sounds a bit odd. Pub food is what the British do best.

By the way in that list is a restaurant called "Rockpool" its an Australian Resaurant in Sydney, avoid it like the plague if you visit the wide brown land. The exec-chef there is a prat of the first water and about as pretentious as one human can be without actually having his head explode under the pressure of his own ego. You reading this Neal?

The food is not bad, but horribly overpriced for fusion Cusine. Which I hate with a passion almost holy.

Rant over....for now

They are certainly not the best at dental care. And you guys drive on the wrong side of the road for god's sake. And its like everyone of your newspapers is the National Enquirer! Blah. And don't get me started on English women.

Of course, I am a quarter English, so your genes are quite good, I must admit.
