View Full Version : Referred pain from my liver?

Hey,

I've recently been having strange sharp pains in my chest (specifically below my right shoulder in ventral and dorsal areas). It happens when I cough or bend down sometimes or laugh too hard or things like that. I asked someone and I was told that this could possibly be referred pain from my liver showing itself in the right shoulder area. Anyone with any medical expertise have any thoughts or comments? (I was also told it could just be gas? I've decided to wait on seeing a doctor to see if it goes away.)

It could be gas.. but if you have reason to suspect your liver, check it out ASAP. The Liver's very important. You only have one and it does not heal from damage well.

It could also be your back!

Why would you put off checking it out more thoroughly considering it could be liver problems?

I'm getting it checked today, and I was waiting to see if it would just go away.

I appreciate that a lot. I got my chest x-rayed, they didn't really check out my internal organs below the lungs. The x-rays said it was some mucus and they've upped the dosage of some of the medicine I was already on and added a new antibiotic. I don't know how mucus would give me those pains, but I'll just trust the doctors for now. :teeth:

You only have one and it does not heal from damage well.

Just to clarify, the liver does infact repair itself remarkably well from damage, it's rather difficult to destroy.
