To be consistent with my warlike nature, I'm throwing down the gauntlet and asking Rando to prove it. Here:

Rando asserts that Augustine was an Arian later in life and was baptized by an Arian. I'm asserting that this argument is bogus. He must prove it (since it's his assertion) or retract. If he proves it, I will retract my call of bs.

Until then, I call bs.

Vulgar abbreviations aren't allowed.

Because you did mention Constantine:
But I don't believe in Just Torture Theory (from the right). Or Just Bribe Theory (from the left).

It is interesting to note that those who are attempting to use Constantine's argument of Just War Theory are those who are the furthest away from him, denominationally.

Reading back through the context a bit... I can't find mention of Augustine.

No, I did not say Augustine. I said Constantine. There's a BIG difference between the two. Although they both lived in the 4th Century and their names both end in "-tine" they are quite different people. Augustine was a wholly orthodox theologian whose ideas have significantly shaped Catholic and protestant theology ever since. Constantine was the first "Christian" emperor of questionable faith who delayed his baptism until his deathbed, and was baptised by an Arian named Eusebius of Nicomedia.

Hope that helps.

Are you KIDDING? Oh my Lord. I mention Constantine, thinking of Augustine (there's no reason I should make that mistake as I have a copy of the Confessions by my bed.) Not only do I get mad about it, I blame Rando for switching the subject. LOL

OH WHAT A BUM I AM. I request forgiveness from all, especially Rando.

Hey, their names both end in "-tine!" Simply swap "Augus" for "Constan" and you've made the switch!

Love you, bro.
