Hi. I have a question concerning the 2nd temple. Why did God through Cyrus command a temple to be rebuilt just so He could destroy it in the 1st century?

I believe it was so God could glorify Himself through that destruction as told in Ezekiel 39 and Daniel 11 and Malachi and thus deliver Daniel's people, those that believed unto the Cross of Jesus Christ, the savior and King of Israel. Any views on this topic? Thanks and blessings.

Daniel 9:24 " Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. 25 "Know therefore and understand, [That] from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until messiah the prince, [There shall be] seven weeks and then sixty-two weeks; The street["broad place"] shall be built again, and the wall["gold"], Even in troublesome times. 26 "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it [shall be] with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

Matt 23:1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, 2 saying: "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. 36 "Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. 37 " O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under [her] wings, but you were not willing! 38 "See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 "for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed He who comes in the name of the LORD!' "

Malachi 2:1 "And now, O priests, this commandment is for you. [i]2 If you will not hear, And if you will not take [it] to heart, To give glory to My name," Says the LORD of hosts,

Malachi 4:1 "For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up," Says the LORD of hosts, "That will leave them neither root nor branch.

Could the second temple being built in Ezra be for God glorifying Himself to Israel and the world after Jesus the messiah came? What is Ezekiel 39 representing if not that destruction? Blessings.

Ezra 1:1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORDstirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also [put it] in writing, saying, 2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which in Judah.

Nehem 2: 5 And I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it."

[i]37 " O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under [her] wings, but you were not willing! 38 "See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 "for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed He who comes in the name of the LORD!' "

Ezekiel 39:[i]12 "For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. 13 "Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain renown for it on the Day that I am Glorified," says the Lord GOD.
