Sometimes while I am trying to fall asleep (60% of the time), as I exhale I kind of.. vocalize.. like "uhhh..." Sometimes it is loud enough that I have trouble falling asleep because of it. It is HIGHLY annoying. Anyone ever experienced something like this?
Any tips? What could be causing this? It's probably related to the sleep apnea but I cannot find any problems related to apnea that are like this.

Yes, because of my allergies and nasal blockage.
Does this only happen if you are resting on your back? I have no such problems if I rest on my side.

Yup, exactly, while laying on my back. Is it from nasal blockage? .. could be, I have a nasal septum like a pretzel...

Then the root cause is different than mine but the result is the same. If you can't sleep on your side you may need surgery, which is the option my cousin chose when she had a similar problem.

I have but they don't do much for me. . . I am getting an Apnea machine in a week or three (it's taken like 5 months for the Hospital to even get me diagnosed and treated...). Hopefully that will improve my sleep quality a lot.

Hey, bro... it happens to everyone at some time in their life, don't feel bad.
I mean... not to me, okay, but really, most people go through that, eventually. Lots of folks. A fair number of people experience that. Some do, anyway. A few, here and there.
I mean, at least someone somewhere, surely....
What? Ah, darn.
Sorry, man... you're the only one.

Actually I have noticed in the last few months thanks to sleep-deprivation (courtesy of the new baby), as I start to drift off I "hear" loud bangs or pops that wake me up. Sometimes I also wake myself up as I'm dozing off by saying, "what?" or "Hmm?" as if someone were asking me a question...and no I am not crazy. Sleep deprivation can cause auditory hallucinations. Look it up! :brood:

Worst way to wake yourself up -- just as you are drifting off to sleep, you suddenly get the extreme sensation that you are falling and your whole body JERKS awake! I also got the beginning of "restless leg syndrome" which runs in my family, but it don't bother me at all.
