  • GEE, I Miss Borland!

We were gabbing in ShoutBox about computers and stuff, and expanded and extended memory, and how 640k was a barrier, requiring "memory managers" like Headroom and TSRs like Sidekick.... (Don't forget VROOMM - the Virtual Realtime Object Oriented Memory Manager)

Reminded me of Borland, and their LOGICAL "like a book" licensing scheme. I was a diehard user of Quattro Pro and could make it do ALL KINDS of neat stuff - more like an accounting program than a spreadsheet - with their wide range of macros, etc.

At one point, I wrote a letter to Borland (an actual snail mail letter) congratulating them on such great products, and about a month later, received a box by UPS --- including a licensed copy of EVERY PRODUCT THEY SOLD AT THE TIME! for FREE!

The only Borland I'm familiar with was their poster and card making stuff.

Borland did that? Maybe you're thinking of Broderbund?
