This thread is a spin-off of BHN's fish oil thread. I had heard somewhere recently that fish oil is good for the skin, as well. Does anyone know if there's any credence to that?

And if not, what other supplement might you recommend? I have eczema (still at 33, even though most see it go away by early 20s), which is exacerbated by the dry Colorado climate. Right now, it's almost exclusively on my hands, and it goes in phases from patches of dry and flaky.. to literally cracked and bleeding. A couple days ago, it was at its worst. Now, it's mostly better, but still problematic. At least it's not inflamed at the moment.

I appreciate any advice on the matter!

Also, does anyone else have eczema? Mine is atopic, btw. (I also have a very small patch on each forearm, and one unusual little patch on the left side of my forehead which I've never had before in my life, but which now stubbornly refuses to go away. Weird.

On another note, I do have a tube of Triamcinolone Acetonide (which I think is Lidex, but cant' remember for certain)... but it's several years old, unfortunately. It seems to work a little, sometimes, but sometimes it seems to have no effect at all. It seems to be more useful for bringing it down from an inflamed state to a more middle-of-the-road condition, where it is now. (It was quite inflamed about three days ago.) I use it as rarely as possible, because I have a strange physiological tendency to become temporarily immune to most medicines if I take them for very long. Including Lidex and other steroid ointments.

I'll also take advice on medicinal treatments, although I have no medical coverage right now. I can take it under advisement for the future.

Thanks muchly!

Actually, I just checked, and Lidex is a different corticosteroid, one I used to take. Not sure what the brand name of Triamcinolone Acetonide is. But anyway, just FYI.

My problem is psoriasis, and I only use topical substances. Salicylic acid mainly. Nothing beats a little elbow grease.

I developed a stress-related excema in 1997 when my daughter was very ill. I get little blisters in the webbing of my fingers that are itchy and then break open and spread fluid around which is annoying.

I don't know what foods or supplements would help me. My doctor gave me a cortisone ointment to use and told me not to get stressed......

Even now, when my daughter tells me she has a fever, related to anything at all, I immediately break out in this excema.

Our bodies are so strange in the way they react to stress....:nsm:
