Christ and Total Depravity

Since Christ as the Son of God was born in the Flesh. Why did He not inherit the sin of Adam. Since all have sinned...... How did Christ avoid this evil corruptness brought on men by Adam. He was in the flesh yet sinless.

Any comments?

Because Christ's father was not Joseph but God. Sin is passed through the father not the mother.

Sin is also attached to a human person; but the Holy Spirit's work involved uniting human nature to the Person of Christ, the second person of the Godhead, in the substance of the ovum in Mary's womb, which the Spirit sanctified for that purpose. Hence "that holy thing" shall be called... because it was never an independant human person before union with the Son.

I think that I would tend to disagree with the second part of this, sin comes as a result of having been born into a race descended from adam, yes....and Jesus having the unique father/son relation would prevent him from sinning. I think the key is more in the fact that he was in a sense a new creation from God (although also being human as being descended from Mary). He was born in a sinless state as he was born of God, and was God.

Err, don't know if that changed anything, just don't particularly like the idea of the male linegage somehow 'carrying sin' in a unique way.

Well, I wouldn't go to the wall to defend my view which is simply based on Romans 5:12 and the understanding that Jesus came from Mary (the egg) but not Joseph and was born sinless. There is no real theological thought behind it.

However, the idea that He was a "new creation" and therefore without sin is intriguing and a very good point as well - and probably the true reason.
