Here's mine:
You score: 90!!!!!!!
You put Ebenezer Scrooge to shame with your miserly ways! You carefully monitor every cent that passes through your hands, and go to extra lengths to get the very best deal on almost everything. Either you've got a huge fortune stuffed under your mattress, or you've been living on an extremely tight budget. If you're forced to be stingy because of your financial situation at the moment, then you should be proud of the innovative strategies you've developed for cutting costs - as long as you're not expecting others to take up the slack, or creating uncomfortable social situations. If you can't pay like the big guys, don't play with the big guys! If, on the other hand, you've got plenty of cash, you should learn to lighten up a little. Money is only a means to an end, after all.

My score = 40

While you may not be the cheapest person on earth, you do have some stingy tendencies. In certain situations, you get a tight grip on that cash and there's no way you're letting go. At other times, however, you let the coins flow like a river. It might depend on your mood that day or whether you're making a conscious effort to tighten the purse strings because of a precarious financial situation. There's also the possibility that there are certain things you don't mind splurging on, while others just aren't worth the sacrifice for you. Whatever your situation, this is probably a reasonable, healthy way to be. Just keep that balance between enjoying your money and thinking of the long-term repercussions of overspending, and you should be on the road to monetary stability.

:frown: I wish I had gotten my score because I have a fortune stuffed under my mattress.... unfortunately, it is due to living on a tight budget.

I scored 15 and got this:

Congratulations, you're not a cheapo! In fact, you seem to be fairly relaxed and generous when it comes to money, and you don't hesitate to chip in whenever you've got the means. You don't go out of your way to hunt down the best bargains on every little thing you purchase, and are unable to ignore the dollar signs and have a good time…even when caught off guard by a hefty tab. Either you make enough money that you simply don't have to worry about the price tag, or you've made the decision not to let money control your life. This is a great attitude, but one word of caution; don't be so relaxed about money that you forget about the bill that will come later in the mail.

The fact is though that I am quite careful with money, though I don't worry about spending a few dollars on a meal for example. My answers weren't always for the reasons the test wanted though. For example, I don't use valet parking if I can help it because I don't like entrusting my car to these guys (I'm funny that way). :) Also the one about taking the new date to an expensive hotel, I would ask her to share the cost to see what she would say, I'm not (wasn't) interested in golddiggers. Also the more obvious choice (to suggest a less expensive hotel) was not offered. The first question was a bit dumb. Has anyone ever had a waitperson chastise them for leaving too small a tip? I'd complain to the manager if anyone did that to me.

What's that? It's only supposed to be for fun, and not to be analyzed to death? Is there a test for "are you anal"? Bet I'd score 100 on that!

FWIW, here's my formula for not worrying about money. It assumes you are not totally below the poverty level. Take a little time to work out your monthly outgoings, then multiply that by say 3 to 6 (this depends on your comfort level). Then do whatever it takes to cut back on your spending until you have saved that amount and put it aside. Then resume your normal spending level. Use the savings as a buffer for unexpected circumstances. Put any surplus you have at the end of the month into the buffer. Whenever the buffer falls below the original amount, cut back a bit until you have built it up again. If the buffer tends to go up, you can, if you wish, spend a bit more each month, or transfer the surplus to more permanent savings. If you think about it, you are living in exactly the same way (after the initial savings period) as you would be anyway, but without the worry.
