If you do not know what MMORPG stands for, skip this thread.
Ok, there are a bunch of these games coming out, and I am wondering which ones you may or may not play and why.
I myself am looking at Horizons and Star Wars: Galaxies. There is also a Middle-Earth Online game coming out, but it is still early in development.

*sigh*, I've always wanted to play one but my computer really can't handle the ones that demand good graphics.
I did enjoy Graal, though, which is basically online Legend of Zelda.

I'm an Xboxer and we have a few MMORPG's coming out soon - one is Galaxies (I have three friends who are Beta testing - so far only one is willing to keep paying to play). Another I'm looking forward to is call True Fantasy Live Online. It's an amazing looking cell-shaded MMORPG (

)
I'm excited as I don't want to spend the money to buy a computer in order to enjoy these types of games. Yay xbox.

TWeb seems to have taken enough of my "spare" time that I no longer play Dark Age of Camelot

The Wakoschi brothers have a Matrix mmorpg planned. I've dabbled in Ultima but it didn't do much for me.
The ones that really rock are the old-skool MUD mmorpgs, the text based stuff.

Well, I played EverQuest (the most well-known mamajamma) and played Anarchy Online for about a week. EQ sucked me in for about 3 years.
EQ2 is coming out, and it may be ok, but I want something that is more skill-tree based than level based.
How did you like DAoC? I have a lot of friends playing the game, but I have just never indulged myself.
As for The Matrix:Online, I have a friend who works fo Blizzard (actually a subsidiary) and she says that it does not look to be a very good game. She'll tell us more as she is one of the Alpha testers.

I was just reading in the latest issue of PC Gamer about the new City of Heroes MMORPG, and it sounds pretty cool.
I just might give it a try when it becomes available.

I generally don't like role-playing games because of the magic involved, but one game that is being categorized as MMORPG (even though it is not really a RPG, you play as yourself) is Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. I am really looking forward to this game. It is being made by Cyan Worlds (the people who made Myst) and should be out in time for Christmas.

spl_cadet got me into a cool one, called Enigma. it's a free web-based MMORPG (even though it isn't too massive, yet). you get to build your own fleets and either try to live peacefully as a trader, or wreak havok as a pirate (as well, we're trying to get a police force started to oppose the pirates).

i've been watching my friends beta-test Final Fantasy Eleven Online and i'll have to say it is mighty pretty and it looks to be a lot of fun as well. I think i'd go with the Galaxies though, Star Wars....i mean, come on!

Unfortunately, from what I have been told, SW:G sucks pretty badly.

i never say anything about a game untill i play it generally. saying what others say is just too darn weird for me. they don't have my tastes, distastes or even a glimpse at what i might consider to be criteria for either.
make your own judgement. find someone who has the game and play or watch them play. its simple!
course, that's doing what i say, and that's just wrong.
