What do you all think about flash drives? I just bought one today at Fry's (I know, that in itself is evil) that stores 128 megs worth of info. They plug into your USB port and act as a removable drive.
My concern is that, while they seem extremely efficient, they seem to present some dangers, such as the ability to rapidly hardline harmful data and viruses onto computers.

I saw one of those at Walmart for $19, which I thought was interesting cause I saw them last year for over $100.

It was the last one... I would probably have picked it up, but it didn't have a USB cable in the package.

After buying this, I have begun to think that USB ports are a security risk. Does anybody know of any literature on the subject?

I have one that's also 128megs and have had no virus problems. It's a great way to put that broadband connection at school to work and get things home quickly.
My front USB ports aren't working anymore so I bought a 4-port USB hub that sits on top of my computer and that works like a charm.
No virus troubles yet.

Where's this virus concern come from? It's like a floppy disk, but more storage and faster and solid state. You can't even boot from them (yet), so there's less potential for badness than the good old 3 1/2".
Got 1 for my birthday - I think the price (~AU$0.50/MB) is a bit too high for me to have got one otherwise. It is cool, though, for when you don't have internet/FTP handy at both ends of your transfer.
