Download.com

http://www.download.com/The-GIMP/3000-2192_4-10411405.html?tag=lst-0-1

Also get the GTK+ Runtime Environment (http://download.com.com/3000-2192-10280276.html)
install this first

I didn't think to check at download.com! Thank you!

The Gimp homepage confused the heck out of me, and I'm not exactly computer illiterate...

The download.com link is 1. taking forever 2. just corrupting the file.

This bad luck is raising to the level of Gypsy Curse

1) Download and install GTK+:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gtk%2B-2.6.8-setup-1.zip?download

2) Download and install The Gimp:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gimp-2.2.8-i586-setup.zip?download

It can't go wrong.

me three...

GIMP is a little confusing to use at first, but not to bad after you get the hang of it. If I remember correctly you mentioned you use paint shop pro? There are a couple of things I went back to paint shop pro to do for a while (the cloning thing still acts a little weird for me)...but other than that it seems to work nice. (Not that I do anything to complex on it anyway.) I still go back to paint shop for animation.

Funny, I had to download GiMP at work today and I was confused as heck. I went to the Windows download thingy, and went to a site that looked exactly like the one that I was just at that said, "You have the opportunity to download the GiMP from here or see the FAQ." No link, just a screenshot, and it looked exactly like the page I was just on, so it took me a few minutes to realize the "Download" link in the left column on this site is actually a different link than the one I clicked on the previous site.

GiMP needs tons of usability help both on their website, and their kludgy program.

Windows Users, go here:
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Click "Downloads"

Start at the top... And work your way down.

Slightly off topic: just curious, what's the rest of this luck rating scale?
