Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

    A Glory Seed Devotional
    Know Jesus… No worry…

Yesterday I mentioned my worry of slipping and falling but that’s only one worry in the WWW.of_Gary.fear/hope (Worry_Wide_World). There are those who might thing because I am somewhat of a worry wart my faith is wishy-washy and while that may indeed be the case I must not be the only worry wart because the Apostle Paul writing to the WWW of the Philippians wrote…

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Philippians 4:6–7, The Message)

When I read this the first thing that hits me is Paul does not condemn me for worrying instead he seems to be affirming the fact that there are things that cause us concern after all didn’t Jesus say that in this life we’d face difficulties. And if that’s the case shouldn’t we be concerned about them?

So rather than condemning Paul instead offers a solution the gospel is the good news of Jesus “fixing” the brokenness of our lives. “God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.” (John 3:17, The Message)

To me by not pointing “an accusing finger” at me because I am a worry wart Paul is telling me in chapter 4 of Philippians, “Don’t allow your concerns to take control of your life instead take your concerns to the one who can replace your them with his own life, Jesus.”

While I am no expert in the human science of when a concern becomes worry one thing I know when the concerns of my life begin dictating how I live my life they become not only worrisome but deadly as well. For example if my concern about having another heart attack gets to the point where I affix myself to my recliner and wait for the next one then I have turned control of my life from Jesus to worry.

“It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”

Worry’s greatest foe is FAITH! Believe it! Use it! Experience it!

    Grace and PEACE!
    Gary
