Came across this recently. Found the approach interesting in that it starts with the seemingly innocuous stuff - like sugar and candy and moves on from there. Just for the record I scored 51.

Check it out at www.lapage.com/arr/phelps.htm (http://www.lapage.com/arr/phelps.htm)

I had too much "trouble concentrating or reading" (f) to make it through the test, I better go get a donut.

Hmm... I scored a 133, but most of my points came from family history. There are a lot of nuts in my family tree!

I scored a 77 but mostly the family history on my part did me in.

I would say I do have an addiction. Being on the computer, I have a hard time getting off of it. :frown:

It put me at 5 for drugs, but I take motrin whenever I start having my cluster headaches (unpleasant).

The test was difficult to take because many of the questions didn't allow for "in the past but not now" answers. With that said, I scored 104.

Part I: Diet 26
Part II: Family History 39
Part III: Depression 16
Part IV: Alcohol Use 13
Part V: Drug Use 10

Well, I keep taking this test over and over and over and over, and I don't have an addictive personality.

Since I have actually been diagnosed with clinical anxiety in the past and prescribed antidepressants for some time (though I'm no longer on them ), it affected my 'depression' score somewhat.. and it seems to run in the family a bit, hence the 'history' score.

There's a major element that they forgot to include: lust. People can use lust to escape just as easily as drugs or alcohol or food.

The good news is:

Your score: 49

Part I: Diet 15
Part II: Family History 11
Part III: Depression 12
Part IV: Alcohol Use 9
Part V: Drug Use 2

The bad news is, the same personality factors that make me non-addictive also seem to interfere with my developing good habits like regular exercise, house cleaning, etc.

To those with high family histories, you were making sure to only include parents, grandparents, siblings, and children right? The instructions make it clear that other relatives don't count. They would have greatly increased my score.

Diet: 1

Depression: 0
Alcohol use: 10

A) I'm not too fond of sweet foods, and I'm pretty slim
(I eat healthy most of the time because I like good food, and hate stodge).
B) Blooming family
C) I don't get depressed often, if at all.
D) I drink with my staff friends after work (I work in a pub at the moment- what a shock)
E) I tried pot once, and I'm a smoker.

So, I have one person in my family that I know of having a drinking problem, I'm a smoker and a drinker, I don't have anything to get depressed about, and I eat healthily... Awesome.

Why is family so important?

The bloke I talked about (the guy who bumped uo my score 17 points), I hardly ever see. Why should what ever he does effect me? I've got so many cousins, one of them could cop it and I'd probably never notice- and probably not care any more than if someone down the street had died, I have that little to do with them (outside my immediate family, we aren't close- once my parents pass away I'll lose contact with 98% of them, and even now I only see them once every half dozen years).
