Looks like an Anole to me (a friend of mine used to keep a pair as pets).

When I was a kid, we lived in this place where there were a ton of lizards like this. Me and my friends would go out to catch them, they were hard to catch because their tales would break off. (and they were FAST!)

Don't worry, they grow back.

Anole = chameleon

Chameleon is the common name in these parts anyway. I agree, that's what it looks like to me. I used to keep them as pets - they're fun and harmless (they do bite - it doesn't hurt). Careful about the tails - yeah they grow back, but still...

Oh, and the little red 'beard' when they display is soooo cute... :teeth:

Green anole: (This one’s cute!!)

Various anoles: (Only the green is native to the US)

chameleon is the common term we used as well. even though technically they are anoles or american chameleon. we would catch them and keep them in cages then there was a huge boom of jackson's chameleons and i had a few that i just let hang out on a ficus tree in my room.

another really common lizard where i grew up was geckos. they would run on glass and ceilings. that was pretty kewl.
