Thanks for the tip Shaolin! Although, I'm not sure if I should thank you, or what, since I'll probably be spending so many hours playing it. If its as good as age of mythology, I can see it now, 5:30 a.m., the sun will be coming up soon, but I HAVE TO DEFEAT THEM. Sleep is not important at this point. :-)

Is this like Age of Empires?

My brother really really likes AOE.

From what Shaolin told me its a cross of Age Of Empires (which rox like no other game does) and modern C&C combating.

It is exactly like AOE however the campaigns is based on RISK. You start out with a nation and every turn you choose a territory then you battle AOE style. You get bonus cards and points for every victory.

I'm a Blizzard and Westwood man myself(AOE's tech tree is too accursedly big and too accursedly static for my taste) but I still want to check it out.

I've just discovered that nearly every USA campaign in Generals can be pretty easily beaten with two Hummers, each with 4 Missile Defenders and one Pathfinder. Researching TOW missiles is optional but reccommended. Give the highest ranked one a Scout Drone to watch for nasty fuel explosives and you're ready to go.

Played RON. Hyper strategic gameplay with little to no emphasis on battle micromanagement unless you're trying to compensate for the accursed pathing:rant: and the even-more-accursed tendency to accidentally click on rather than through structures, leading my siege weapons to get in range of the towers they were trying to destroy:bomb: Most of the activity seems to be "which upgrade do I click on next?"

It is interesting trying to capture-hold an enemy city, though. Curse those Bantus with their machine guns!

If I feel like wreckin', I play Diablo 2 (LOD expansion pack) and if I feel like buildin', it's Civ 3.

I love turn-based strategy.

That is why you havenīt played on moderate or harder difficulties, cause thatīs where you HAVE TO use micromanagement, or else you will lose.

The game is complete, there are no flaws.

Micromanagement is no subsitute for macro-management-it's more important to BUILD counters to your enemy than to focus strongly on single battels, since while you're messing around with that city, you could be purchasing one of the multivariate upgrades available at every single building. Or kicking out another army, since build times are so low. Or scouting out another resource site. Closer to C&C than Warcraft 3, though it's made me drop Age of Empires like a bad habit.

I still think Blizzard and Westwood games have more staying power. Mainly due to actual differences between the races, and an overabundance of differing strategies, often quite quirky but useful to both use and defend against.
