It was a good flic ... but a better book, IMO.

Books always are. I have not read the book - I think that I shall. Prolly can get for real cheap on ebay.

Can anyone think of a book that was better as a movie than a book? :shifty:

Star Trek. But that's about it.

Eh ... you probably can, but there were a few scenes in there that you may find objectionable. Caveat lector.

I can't. The only that maybe comes to mind is The Stand - the book was so long and drawn out.

Girl, Interrupted as a movie totally sucked. I was so disappointed, it was such a good book.

Dang, Logan's Run? Next it'll be Buck Rogers in the Twenty-first Century....bedebebeep.

Can I mention here how much Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy sucked? It's so much better to imagine a two-headed Zaphod Beeblebrox than to see him with one head tucked into his shirt.

Made for TV movies would also be game in this thread

The movie was objectionable in some ways - I don't mind "objectionable" scenes or items in movies or books unless the purpose is to glorify them. There is some racey stuff in the Bible.

Here on the forum we have to censor that stuff out, but in ones personal life a mature Christian should be able to deal with such themes - unless there is a particular stumbling block.

I couldn't even finish it it was so embarassingly stupid. The movie, not the book. It totally sucked IMHO.

I liked the movie better. A lot of it is the opening scene with the bodies all over the place with "Don't Fear the Reaper" playing as the soundtrack set the tone for me as very dramatic. The book was a bit tedious IMHO.

The books are actually funny.

The books are hilarious. Only to some though. My husband totally doesn't appreciate that kind of humour.

I don't have any skill with graphics software, so it looks like you're up.

I don't have any except GiMP, and I don't know how to use it yet.

The theory is easy--this won't make an animated graphic (gimp can do that, but I don't know how), but to make a simple still....
1: Open your graphics program;
2: Play a movie on your computer;
3: Pause the movie at a scene you like;
4: Hit the "Print Screen" key
5: Go to your graphics program and hit "Paste as a new image."
6: Resize, save as a JPEG or GIF, and post.

Hammy's got a tutorial up of how to do animated scenes somewhere around.

That may not work. Movies use direct x and your video card to render movies and it often screws up any attempts to take screenshots of it. You may need a special program rather than a simple print screen. Unless you have a really old computer.

you could always scour the net for images and crop them to show just a specific part to make it more tricky - perhaps post one at a time with less information in the beginning and more if people don't get it

That is kind of what I did with Logan's Run - that first screen shot was obscure, and I didn't show the main actor until after Justin already guessed it

But thanks for the caveat.

dizzle
November 10th 2005, 08:39 AM
No takers eh? Well that shot is a hard one, I would not have gotten it right off. I will post another later tonight.

I can't get the stoopid sub-title to turn off - oh and I also noticed that the subtitles were not catching whole sentences. That is pretty uncool to those who need that service

dizzle
November 10th 2005, 11:36 PM
Okay second hint.... and if you can't name the movie at least tell me what she's saying
