When I typed it in (actually I coppied it from character map) it was a square root sign. It looked like a square root sign, then I submitted it and it looked like that?

You could have, at least, come from the volume of an ellipsoid (4/3pab2) and then noted that, for a circle, a = b = r, thus: 4/3pr3. :ahem:

Indeed. However, I suspect that the /3 in the ellipsoid formula would likely have met the same fate as its counterpart in the sphere formula.
