Have you ever heard of this tea? I am getting ready to order some within the next few minutes, unless you know something I don't know (which could be a lot), and you end up stoppping me (which very well could happen).
Any good experiences or bad? Anyone know anything at all?
I'd like to lose some weight, but I am really more drawn to it for it's advertised antioxidant effects more than anything. According to this website, it has more antioxidant power than green tea. Is this true? I have also heard in a few other circles that it makes you feel good, too. I'm always one for feelin' good! It never hurt anybody.

I like a cuppa maté every once in a while. You can buy it green or roasted. I prefer the green style. The roasted stuff is good in the morning--as a coffee substitute. I always buy it in bulk--it's pretty cheap. You could check it out at your local health food hippy store, or tea merchant.
let us know how you like it!

:frown: Sadly, we don't have many cool hippy places here in rural Indiana. I had to order it from the site that I linked to in the OP.
Thanks to luv1another for all of the detailed info! That was awesome! And even though those whom I bought it from did make the claim that it doesn't contain caffeine, I bought it from them anyway-- there was something about the marketing in their website that appealed to me. The coffee that I always buy is labeled "fair trade" coffee, and they sold their maté to me in the same way-fair trade. I believe I bought the green kind..... but I'm not sure.
After I ordered, I somehow felt that perhaps I cheated myself in going cheap by only ordering the maté and not also ordering the gourd and bombilla to drink it from. There may be something psychosomatically beneficial that I may have cheated myself on by resigning myself to using a coffee cup and a tea ball. And I also cheated myself out of seeing the look on my husband's face when he walks in and sees me kicking back in my chair drinking from a gourd and a funky metal straw ("Ay, Rubia..... what ever are you doing now?") :hehe: That's always comedy.
Regardless, I shall let you all know in about a week what I think of this foreign brew!
