What is the sign(s) of the new covenant?
Hi Lady G. Good question.
As I thought about it though, it occurred to me more and more that the sign is not in the sensational. It is not in the miracles. Those seemed to cut back as time went on such as Paul leaving Trophimus sick and him having to suffer with his own conditions. I do believe miracles can happen today, but that they were largely intended for the apostolic era.
However, I consider passages such as the Jeermiah quotation in Hebrews 8 and Jesus saying in John 13:35 that all men would know that we are his disciples if we love one another. The great agape love that the church is to have is supposed to be the sign of the new covenant.
Hope this helps!

I haven’t given this a great deal of thought but what about…..
Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
I suggest then that the sign of the New Covenant was ‘Pentecost’ when the ‘promise of the Father’ was given and the Holy Spirit was poured out. Remembering that Jesus said that when He the Holy Spirit is come, He would teach, guide etc and write God’s laws on our hearts and minds.
So rather than any outward miracles, the sign that the New Covenant has arrived and is in force is the revelation of the Holy Spirit opening and teaching us God’s Word.
Back to our old stomping ground, Lady G :wink:
