In the spirit of the holiday/christmas dispute currently popular in the mass media, I can't resist grabbing a heaping helping of the inherent irony of my position as a non-christian.

That's right. Christians are under siege by the "holiday" pushers. Holiday pushers are under siege by the "christmas" fundamentalists. But watch how these slings and arrows fail to reach the mark of a non-theist wishing christians joy in celebrating their holiday under their chosen holiday name, "Christmas."

That's right, my christian friends. I'm wishing you a merry christmas. Not because I believe in god, but because I believe in you and your freedom to choose your own faith and to likewise choose how you wish to celebrate it.

That's right, my non-christian friends. Take advantage of your philosophical freedom from religion by exercising it in wishing your worthy adversaries joy in their own terms. Try it, go ahead, I dare you. It's amazingly liberating. Repeat after me ...

Merry Christmas!

Let there be peace on Earth,
And good will to all men,

Jesse

A good idea.

Merry Christmas to our Christian brothers and sisters.

And sincere apologies to Arnold, Jinx, Richbee, Mad Gerbil and anyone else on the right or otherwise who I have been less-than-polite to in my posts.

I will do better.

Happy Winter Solstice to all Christians, heathens, and to whom it may concern!

In China the Winter Solstice was the major new year in the old days, and the ceremonies and sacrafices were precided over by Taoist priests. Not all that interesting though, no virgins involved, at least in the ceremony. Although in the show it gets a little kinky with one of Taoist priest performing as a cross-dresser.
