Foreign Language Translation (http://www.naturalspiritministries.org/bibleindex/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=2)
Written by Scot Arnold Thursday, 16 June 2005 Here is something I thought of. It came about when I was
thinking about foreign language, Bible translations and word for word
translating. There is a phrase in German that means an
exuberant "You're nuts!" or "You're Crazy!". The phrase
is: "Du hast ein Vogel!!" If the phrase is translated
literally it would mean (word for word): Du= You, hast= have,
ein= a, Vogel= bird. A literal translation of this makes no
sense to an English speaking person. Understanding the converting
of one language to another is something that escapes most people.
Sometimes meaning goes beyond the words.
