I'm just curious on what everyone thinks we(the body of Christ) should do about those who falsely accuse their brethren.

Thoughts?

Stone them.

But seriously?? Well I think we would need to look at specific examples, I am reluctant to give one size fits all answers.

Matthew v, 23-24: "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."

I think that proper expressions of God's love is always the best possible course of action. Those brothers who slander do no hurt themselves or others as much as they hurt Christ, who died to save the man or woman they're accusing

Of course, the trick is that this love looks different depending on the situtation. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is give someone the cold shoulder until they come to their senses. At other times you have to patiently show them Scripture and rebuke them.

You could always dig up their threads and let them roam as aimless ZOMBIES through the site.

If someone is trying to stir up dissention by false accusations, the best thing to do is disfellowship them IMO.

After several rebukes!

Titus 3:10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.

And certainly it needs to be done in love, both the rebukes (Mt. 5 style, as was stated), and any disfellowshipping...

1 Corinthians 5:5 ... so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.

Blessings,
Lee

Oh, for sure. It's just that churches these days tend to be so focused on numbers that they aren't willing to kick anyone out. There comes a point where a divisive person needs to be removed for the good of the body.
