Okay... I have two atomic clocks, I just really like the concept of never having to set it. Just set the timezone and forget it. :antibanana:

But, for some reason XP won't ever auto-sync to the atomic clock.(double click on the clock, goto "Internet Time" and you can set it to auto-sync from there) so I have to set it manually. :monkey:

For that, just go to http://time.gov/, choose your timezone and set the clock and you're ready to go! :teeth:

I hope to fix XP's clock, and get an atomic watch so that I will never have to set the time again! :antibanana: :antibanana: :koopa: :monkey: popcorn :robot:

In 2000, you have to do two things. First, you set an SNTP server:

C:\> net time /setsntp:198.82.162.213

Then you make sure the Windows Time Service is running. I'd like to think these will work in XP. Then again, I'd like to think.

Yeah, I know you can set up a time server, but that is not necessary in XP because it is set up to connect to NIST automatically everyday(IIRC ) and retrieve atomic time.

But I may have completely misunderstood your post, and if I have I apologize.

That's what the Windows Time Service does.

NIST
This is where to get the time, but there are many others (http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/clock2a.html).

The two steps I mentioned make a Win2K computer go out and get the correct time, they don't make the computer be a time server.

Clear as mud. But it's timely mud.

Sorry, did misunderstand.

I ran it on an XP proxy and it worked even though the built in internet time doesn't. :yipee:
