Just wonder if any of you meditate?
You know the whole power of the mind, type of stuff

Lately been struggling w/ self confidence.

So as a naturalist I figure learn how to focus and meditate to help w/ that.

I don't know perhaps that is wacked.

Just thought I ask if you guys know of any good books to read.

I guess when I was a Christian I would just ask Jesus to help me. Well he is not there so...:)

i finished _Ken Wilbur:Thought as Passion_ a few weeks ago and have been thinking about meditation. I recommend the book to you as a source of information and motivation on the issues.

Autoartist,

From your posts the last few weeks I'm getting the impression you're having a difficult time without the emotional support system Christianity had provided. Is this accurate?

I meditate regularly. It is extremely therapeutic, and I would recommend it for anyone. I work with a teacher, so I don't have a good book to recommend for you. I'll see if I can get a recommendation.

Wut's up Sea

Thx for the post Soundsurfr

Before I forget. I found two books that seem pretty good for what I am looking for.
The review look great at amazon for the books below

Unleash the Warrior Within: Develop the Focus, Discipline, Confidence and Courage You Need to Achieve Unlimited Goals (Paperback)

Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self (Paperback)

I will also check out what others post.

Well, Sea. I am not really struggling w/ anything right now. Thank you for asking. What I am doing is preparing. A naturalist should plan and prepare, it makes logical sense. I intisapate (sp?) bad times so I should build my mind to be ready for them. Sort of retraining my mind. There is no denying the power of thoughts and attitude on our lives. I know what we put into our brains affects us.

Emotional support, that is why religion exists. That is great. Hey I love your post, "A View of Christianity."

Definitely would recommend meditating... I don't really know which technique is the best as I think it is a personal discipline... Try out a few and find which one hits your 'center'.

But I read something by Thich Nat Minh (probably not spelled correctly) which methinks was called "Meditation and Mindfullness"... Very simple view of meditation as a daily art rather than a casual exercise. The simplest technique described therein is simply to follow one's breathing in and out - that all that exists in the world is your breath.

Something you'll find in meditation is the myriad thoughts and random images that bubble up and try to draw away your attention. The central struggle is maintaining mastery over your attention and learning to direct its focus on what you want. Be warned, however, that if you stare into the abyss too long it will stare back into you.

Take care
