Hi all!

Try these to start off with:

1) Two men were their respective parties' vice-presidential nominees (not in the same year) on losing tickets. Twelve years later (not in the same year), they were their parties' presidential nominees. One won & one lost. Name the men & the years concerned.

2) Name the only man who was his party's (sole) presidential nominee three times & lost every time.

3) This man was the governor of two states (and a US Senator from the second, after he finished his term as governor). In between his gubernatorial tenures, he was president of a foreign country. Who was he?

4) "The office of President of the United States is not fit for a gentleman to hold!" The sitting president who said this said it to the man who had been defeated by his (the speaker's) predecessor. Name everyone involved.

Good night!
