Right now I'm working on a paper (for a history class) in which I'm trying to discuss the influnce of World War I on the various writers and poets that served in the Brithish army. So far I've found a few poems by Seigfried Sassoon and I'm planing to mention C.S. Lewis' works like Mere Christianity. One other source I've found is a book called The Great War and Modern Memory by Paul Fussell (ISBN- 0195133323) in which he discusses this very topic. Even though this is a great book, I've found it to be lacking in some areas.
If anyone here has some suggestions as to sources or names of authors I could consider, they would be doing me a big sevice.

I don't know if this is in time for your paper, but you might also want to look into Tolkien's work as well. According to Wikipedia, he served as a communications officer for the British army at the Battle of the Sommes in WWI. He's not explicit about it (in fact, he outright denies the influence of both WWI and WWII on his writings), but his rather anti-modernist view would seem to be, at least partly, a reflection of the loss of faith in Progress and such that happened in European society in general.
*shrug*
Hopes this helps.
