Hi, could someone answer this question, please, as I just don't understand it at all:

Q: Why did Jesus decide to return, then leave for (counting at nearly 2000 years thusfar) a long time before returning a second time? Couldn't he have returned from defeating Satan in hell, and returned to bring about the Day of Judgement and The End of the World all in one trip? Also, did Jesus Christ tell his disciples that he would return not once, but twice (before The Passion)?

Thanks,
Sevivon

Sev, Jesus is giving time for his gospel of salvation to be spread throughout the world and time until the full number of people will be saved.

Not sure what you are asking in your second questions about returning twice?

2 Peter 3:8But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

Thanks.

In the second question, I meant: did Jesus Christ tell his disciples that he would return to them after the ressurection then leave again and THEN finally return at the End of Days (which presumably they believed was near at hand)?

Sevi, if you agree to be civil and have a give and take, I would love to discuss this with you in Paltalk.

With all due respect, since Darth Xena has weighed in on this and she is the main expert on eschatology, I will defer to her largely. I would say you and her could probably go to the basketball court also if she's willing.

I would also say that if Jesus did everything immediately, it would hardly be enough time for the message of salvation to reach the world as Sparko poitned out. (Including you Sev. The offer still stands.)

Hope this helps!
