http://www.all-creatures.org/book/r-theyshallnot.htmlI just found out about this book. It is a book on Animal Rights and Vegetarianism that was written for Bible-Believing Christians.
I've been in an email exchange/dialogue with the author. He's been kind enough to share parts of the book with me and, though I've only read parts of it, I think it would be worth checking out for Christians who are interested in the issue of Vegetarianism and Animal Rights.

If you talk in terms of husbandry and stewardship you've got my attention when it comes to animals. When you talk in terms of animal 'rights' then I've a strong desire to beat you about the head and shoulders with an Aluminum Loiusville Slugger.
Likewise, when you talk about vegetarianism as a means to better health, I'm all ears - when it becomes a 'doctrine' I'm reaching for the bat again.

I don't think animals have rights just like humans do. I do think they shd have more rights or legal protections...

I see being a vegetarian as a discipline Christians can undertake, you know like Daniel et al did. I do not see it as doctrine.
I do think there is a serious problem in our country with gluttony...

what kinds of rights?
I'd like to see rights against them being abused.
I also would like to see some selective regulations enacted of factory farms to make the lives of the animals there better and to give the lower-scale family farms an advantage.
I'd also like to see some sort of encouragement for developing ways to kill animals that would be less painful.
