Hey TheologyWeb members....
This is for those of you who enjoy this site. Anyone who hates our guts can go talk to Mononoke for a while.
If you enjoy this site would you consider becoming a TheologyWeb Contributor? The maximum committment we accept is $5.00 a month. Where else can you spend so much time and have so much fun for so little? Right now about 10% of our monthly expenses come from contributions with the remaining 90% coming out of the personal funds of the Owners in addition to the significant time investment made here in development and design. No, we are not in trouble whatsoever, and no this is not a "if you don't contribute" doom and gloom post, but just letting you know the opportunity.
Consider that it has been our heart to provide the following free of obligations to all members (i.e. it is not required for anyone to be a contributor to take advantage of these features)
1. Polls
2. Custom bylines
3. Image attachments
Thank you so much to our current contributors, it means a lot to us.
Thanks for you attention.....

If I actually made money instead of being a living black hole for it, I would support TWeb.
(notice it is a counterfactual statement)

This thread is old - since then we have had persons who generously wanted to give more than 5/month as they have been blessed to be able to and want to do so. The idea of the 5/month was to make it affordable to most everyone and so that it would not be like we were asking a great deal of folks. Some of this was a backlash to some past experiences that we personally did not care for elsewhere, not to say that such was wrong, we just did not want tiers of members or subscribers here, it was not what we wanted for TheologyWeb when we started.
Now, due to requests, we have multiple level of subscriptions - 5/mo 10/mo 15/mo 20/mo. We are grateful for ANY amount. We have had members over our few years generally make committments to all three of those plans (not all at once, just we have always had members in each group), but the bulk of our support does come from our faithful 5/monthers with very much appreciated support from those who have the means/desire to do a bit more. Thanks to all who have done this for the sheer need of this site, not because of any perks or recognition (really the only perks that are offered are "invisible" to the site - ie our monthly subscribers or onetime equivalents may have a theologyweb email account, and our subscribers get some sneak previews to future features and have access to a private forumm area for that purpose - no debating). We didn't want to have "visible" differences such as some members having more forum privileges. Again, nothing inherently wrong with that - over time we have learned that it gets tough to raise needed funds, and other sites do what they have to do - but we really want to avoid needing to do that, and so far we have been able to, and we are glad for that.
So, if you enjoy the site, please consider becoming a subscriber. We can't promise you extra features or preferences, but you would be helping to support something you enjoy, and where elsse can you get so much entertainment and education for so little?

I'll contribute when I get things lined out. As much as I like this site, marriage and getting my own house are larger priorities for now.
When I get a job, Rebecca and I tie the knot, and we're at least in an apartment of our own I'll contribute if I can afford to, but right now I can't even afford a one time donation of $5.
