When I want a bit of counterbalance to the usual fare in the Political Science forum, I go to Common Dreams (http://www.commondreams.org/).

It looks first rate: a great resource. If someone is used to professionally presented web pages on a topic, the class notes and stuff may seem a bit slap-dash. But remember that you are really grabbing hold of scanned printed course notes, and it's impressive. I checked out quickly some physics and astronomy materials. It works at quite a high level. Thanks for the link!
Some of my favourite sites are:
Astronomy picture of the day (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html)
Keep up to date with things astronomical at The Universe Today (http://www.universetoday.com/)
Explore the universe with An Atlas of the Universe (http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/). (Hours of fun here)
Learn cosmology at Ned Wright's Cosmology Tutorial (http://www.astro.ucla.edu/~wright/cosmolog.htm).
Evolution, development, and random biological ejaculations from a godless liberal: the Pharyngula (http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/) blog.
Browse all the blogs at "scienceblogs", with a ScienceBlogs combined feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/ScienceblogsCombinedFeed)
