I wanted to see a broad sense of who are Twebbers are. So I'm creating a poll.
Yeah, I know each TWebber can post their symbol in their postbit, but it's even more basic than this poll.
Let me be upfront: I realize that even amongst those I've grouped together there are some big differences. It's just I'm limited to 6 options. However feel free to post your individual faith, denomination, or beliefs here in the thread.
If you voted "other," and you feel comfortable doing so, please tell us about it. And I'm not restricting the thread to Christian/Jewish beliefs either.

I am non-denominational, but isn't it ironic that non-denominational is now considered a denomination.

I can't vote. I attend a pentecostal church, but inwardly I do not assent to their doctrine. But, if I had my 'druthers', I'd vote Catholic/Eastern Orthodox/Anglican.

Lol! Likewise. Funny I was thinking the same thing!

Independant Evangelical. I've been a member or adherent of (Scottish) Baptist, Brethren and independents.

I really don't care what building you go to. I'm more interested in what faith or belief matches yours. So go ahead and vote Catholic/Eastern Orthodox/Anglican.

This is going to be an interesting sub-set of what comes out of your poll, Jade. I, too, attend a Charismatic/Pentecostal church (let's face it, the music is great!) but you asked what beliefs I "adhere to." I find myself sticking to more of the teachings that come with Baptists and I am definitely sympathetic to the Evangelical cause. My favorite preacher/teacher is Charles Swindoll. So, I voted Baptist (etc.) but I attend church elsewhere.

I have never been to a Charismatic/Pentacostal, do you guys really do all that gibbering during the service or does that only happen in back-water, snake dancing churches. :teeth:

Gibbering *snicker* :nc: I'll be nice.
All of the Charismatic churches here do the whole speaking in tongues thing. And I think some of the Pentacostal churches do as well. I've even been to one (Charismatic) where this one woman was running up and down the isles--not kidding.

Of course it's misleading to seperate Methodists, Presbyterians and Lutherans and Wesleyans from the Evangelical category, as if "Evangelical" was a category allto its own. I am Presbyterian AND evangelical.

I met Swindoll out in California. He was the guest speaker at a conferance I was coordinating. He totally turned me off. He was definately one of those, "I'm Chuck Swindoll so bow before me" types.

Well, that's true, but I think she tried to do it in order of definable church polity or history ... it makes more sense when viewed that way.

My apologies. I didn't know they actively evangelize.
Anyone: Feel free to point out any other inconsistencies, although, I don't think I can alter the poll at this point.

I started to get offended and then I though...wait, that's a sad commentary on how effective we are. I think I'm gonna go stick my hand in a blender.

Please don't!!! This is the kind of interesting thread that can go in many directions and spawn lots of other threads. For example, what is a denomination, and how do you tell the difference between denominational and non-denominational?
And what is the Church? Is it made of lots of denominatons, or only one true Church? Which one is that, if it is composed of a denomination? Is it man-made in organisation or purely God-made? Is it visible or invisible, physical or spiritual, or a mixture? How can you tell who is in the true Church or who isn't?
And so on...

Actually, Evangelical is a much broader catagory and not really a denomination at all. It has appeal in almost all denominations (you'll find someone who identifies as Evangelical in virtually every denomination).

I tend to label myself Covenant Evangelical these days, although my background is Methodist/Baptist.
I was taken to a Charismatic Church on the Rock in my college days and I made the person who invited me mad when I saw the preacher and went, "It's a brand new car!!!"

I don't hold to any one denomination (mostly because I have changed my views upon scripture, the Bible, or theology more than once). So I put non-denominational.
