Muslims adhere correctly to Torah monotheism requirements (they worship the same God as Jews):

"Say: He is Allah*, the One and Only;
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
And there is none like unto Him. "

- Surah Al-Ikhlas (112)

*Al-Ilah, The God

One of God's many names is

El elyown ( NWYL( L) ), God most high or God on high.

The adj elyown comes from the root word Alah, to go up, to ascend, to climb.

A great surah :)

linguistically, Allah (God) is a bit different than Al-Ilah (the god), though the relationship is worth noting.

Ilah as a noun can be masculine or feminine, definite or indefinite ("the" or "a"), whereas Allah is a proper noun and has no gender (so we default to masculine, as semitic tongues lack "neuter" nouns.)

In arabic, the cognate would be 3ala (3 = 'aiyn, the famous arabic guttural consonant), 3Ali (علي) (like the name of the Prophet's cousin, the caliph, or Muhammad Ali) means "the exalted", Al-'Ali is one of the 99 names of G-d (in islamic tradition)

Often muslims will mention Allah as "Allah (subhanahu wa ta3ala)" which means "God (glorious is He; and may He be exalted)", ta3ala means to cause something to 3ala, i.e. to be raised up high.
