I’ve never been without my eyesight yet one of my favorite lines from the hymn Amazing Grace is “I was blind but now I see.” One faithful day long ago one of God’s greatest prophets Elijah found himself blind. When Ahab told Jezebel everything that Elijah had done, and how he had put all the prophets to the sword, Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods bring unnamable ills on me and worse ills too, if by this time tomorrow I have not made your life like one of theirs”? He was afraid and fled for his life. He came to Beersheba, a town of Judah, where he left his servant. He himself went on into the desert, a day's journey, and sitting under a furze bush wished he were dead. "Yahweh," he said, "I have had enough. Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." Then he lay down and went to sleep.
[1st Kings 19:1 - 19:5]
That’s one of my favorite Bible stories because I been Elijah many times.
Have you ever become so tired of fighting life’s little battles you’ve want to quit?
Are you fighting right now?
Are you sitting on your duff wishing you were dead?
If you’ve said yes to any or all of the preceding questions here’s a Jewel of Good News from another Bible Hero of mine. This is a great joy to you, even though for a short time yet you must bear all sorts of trials; so that the worth of your faith, more valuable than gold, which is perishable even if it has been tested by fire, may be proved, to your praise and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. You have not seen him, yet you love him; and still without seeing him you believe in him and so are already filled with a joy so glorious that it cannot be described; and you are sure of the goal of your faith, that is, the salvation of your souls. [1st Peter 1:6 - 1:9]
Never think that just because Jesus is not where you can see him he’s abandoned you. When you can’t see him he’s working below the surface anchoring you to God
Remember Jesus is… … …Bigger than life!
