Any good stories, past or present, of crazy things your pets have done (or do regularly :hrm: ) ?

I'll start: my cat, as many cats are, is insane. We SAY that she was a free barncat so our expectations HAVE to be lowered a bit... but really.. she's pretty smart... admitting it just scares us. Here's what she did this morning:

I got pounced at 6:30 am on the dot. That's the time my alarm USUALLY goes off (except on an off day, ahem, like today..), so she was expecting it... and when it must have dawned on her that I was still sleeping... CRASH!!! I heard a HUGE noise from upstairs. Then gallop-gallop-gallop down the stairs, MEOW!!! as she smacked RIGHT into the couch :ahem: and ZOOOOM-skitter-skitter into my room and she jumped RIGHT on me for all she was worth. She proceeded to chase her tail while on top of me. Having a cat bounce all over you... and when I said "what are you DOING?" she froze... eyed me... mewed once.. and ran out and up the stairs so fast that I heard another CRASH!!

I made my way up the stairs.

She'd managed to completely knock over two kitchen chairs AND a loaf of bread (???) was on the floor.

Sigh.

Great thread Storico! A happy and healthy New Year to you and your loved ones.

Some years back I had two tamed doves. They lived free in my backyard and would visit in my kitchen. I had adopted the Italian trick to capture mice (I lived in Naples, Italy ) by placing a paper plate in kitty corners with some type of transparent glue and a bait (cheese or bread). As I was tending to my cooking duties, from the corner of my eye I saw a paper plate "running" across the kitchen to discover that one of my doves, too inquisitive, had got her head stuck in the glue and was francticaly hopping around with that new hat!

The scene was comical yet it took several hours to one, get the plate off her head, two get rid off the glue sticking to her feathers.(that type does not dry).

I had no choice but to feather her head down to her neck! My children "caught" me in the kitchen sink feathering the poor thing and knowing their mother's taste for roasted pigeon, imagined the worst case scenario, exclaiming "how could you !".

"Pina" became resemblant to a baby vulture as a result of her feathering.

A few days later, one of my maremmas (big white shepherd dog from the Abruzzi mountains) also got too inquisitive. This time, the "hat" necessitated a shaving session.(to include wrestling with a 110 pounds dog).

To further such glue predicaments, I did catch an entire family of mice once and found myself having to drive to a dumpster to dispose of them. Meanwile, they were squeeking patheticaly in the plastic bag while my daughter was pleading for their lives! Kids do not seem to realize that cute does not erase the reality that they are pests!

My hamster I had as a kid was an excape artist that rivaled Houdini. He once excaped from his cage and crawled into my hand just before I fell asleep. That's the only reason I knew he excaped that time...

We have two dogs, Leah and Autumn. Leah likes to show Autumn who's boss, sometimes by taking things from her.
So one day Autumn is lying on the floor chewing on her Nylabone, and Leah walks into the room. As soon as Autumn saw her, she tucked the bone between her front legs and laid her head down on her paws, to hide the bone from her. Leah walked by and ignored her, and as soon as Leah was occupied with something else, Autumn took the bone back out and resumed chewing.

My wife's cat, Pepper likes to keep us guessing if she is smart or stupid.
She manages to get onto the roof, then pretends she can't get down, crying and acting nervous. But when nobody is around, she jumps down onto the back porch.

She has a paper towel fetish, too.

A few weeks ago, I was at the computer. Pepper sprinted into the room, jumped up on the printer stand, tipping it and spilling CDs all over the floor, then turned tail and zoomed out of the room. When I went to find her, she was hiding in the kitchen, eying me from around the stove. She then proceeded to slink against the far wall, crouched, until she got past me, then hid under the bed.

And if she can't find any of her toys, she'll wrestle her tail or one of her own feet.

When I go to see my folks and before I moved out, my cat Stormy would do something for me and he ONLY does this for me and we have no idea why, because if he's attached to anyone, it's my Mom.

I can pick him up and he will stretch out his legs both ways as far as he can.

We call him "Superkitty" whenever he does this. He'll flop like a rag doll only in my hands. I would love to know why I'm the only one who makes him fly.
