American democracy...cloner of dictators???

What do you think? Could American democracy in fact be a producer of dictators? I have my ideas about this, but I'd like to open this for anyone else, first. Plus, this is our psychology forum; so I welcome any input including a psychological perspective. Thanks!!!

Any system, ours included, has such an ability. It is only when the people truly desire - and are willing to fight for - liberty in both their personal and buisness affairs that a system cannot produce such dictators.

Yes, I had a reason . . . to see if others see a possible psychological connection between democracy and dictatorship, and I was interested in reading what whoever you are might share before I offered what I may have noticed (myself being only a casual observer NOT trained in psychology).

The possibility Anti-Executor treated is how ones might encourage having a dictator OVER them, by not fighting for their liberty.

I was considering how each i-n-d-i-v-i-d-u-a-l can become one's OWN dictator...this resulting from having too much liberty over one's own self.
