I've been looking for a Commentary on the Apocalypse (Revelation) by St. Andrew (or Andreas) of Caesarea (of Cappadocia). If anyone knows where I can find one, please let me know.

I'm also interested in finding other commentaries on Revelation (pre-12th century or so).

Have you read St Victorinus' (†303) commentary (http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0712.htm) yet?

Something you might be interested in is this (http://www.ivpress.com/accs/) awesome resource- Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture. It's a collection of what the Church Fathers had to say on nearly every verse in the Bible. I don't own it, but I've consulted it in the library, and it's a terrific resource.

Yeah, I've seen that one. The blog that linked to it said it wasn't a very good translation.

Yeah, I've seen that. It's been knocked in some reviews on Amazon.com for not being complete and tending to leave out stuff that the compilers didn't agree with, but it should still be a great resource.

Also, I know you've been looking for commentaries (ancient and modern) on Revelation- Biblegateway has a nice set online that's not too technical yet very challenging on the discipleship front. Check out the one for Revelation here (http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/commentaries/index.php?action=getBookSections&cid=17&source=).

It's called the New International Bible Commentary.

Yeah, it's not exaustive- that woulda been awesome had it been completely comprehensive, but it's a good starting place. I bet any local seminary library would have it.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. The reason I'm looking for some ancient commentaries is because commentators (from any time period, but especially modern futurism) have tended to see imminent fulfilment and interpret things accordingly. I'm also looking to see how much consistency I find through the centuries.

The commentary on The Revelation by Dr. J. Massyngbyrd Ford, NT professor emerita at Notre Dame.
It is part of the Anchor Bible series of commentaries. I think it is volume 39 but don't hold me to that.

It is a very detailed work with extensive lexical notes. It has over 500 cross-references and allusions to every OT book as well as many non-canonical books such as Jubilees.

Try your local library first.

Aune's commentary on Revelation is much more thorough than Massyngberde-Ford's.

Then that is one hefty commentary. I'll have to look for it. Thanks.

Three volumes from WBC. I also recommend Osborne's from BECNT.

Sorry, but I don't know what those initials stand for. What is the author's full name and I'll look at our library/Athena/ILL.
