Hey, everyone. :hi:
Okay, I've been here a while, and I know we've got a lovely eschatology forum... I also know I can 'wikipedia' anything and start my own research... but for me, none of it quite beats a one-on-one explanation, and I was hoping someone or more than one someone would maybe be able to offer a little help.
Here we go. I got to this forum, and for the first time in my life, I was hearing words like futurist, preterist, historicist, etc... all eschatalogical words. Calvinist and Arminian too, of course -- although I'm familiar enough with those. I'm honestly not familiar at ALL with futurism, preterism, historicism etc in reference to eschatology. They're all in reference to biblical prophecies, and when they're going to happen or when they've already happened, but beyond that, I'm a little lost.
Would anyone mind explaining the basic idea behind each, and why every second thread I see debates them? I don't feel like I'm qualified to jump into those debates, at all, and I don't feel that I have to or anything... I also know that the eschatology has nothing to do with our salvation itself... but in understand what Christ has done and will do, eschatology seems to touch on issues I'm just starting to look at now. I'd be happy to look at the 'evidence' or the sources one way or another for myself.... if anyone knows of a site or a book that says "what these are and the differences between these", I'd be happy to read it. Just seeking clarity.
Thanks.
