View Full Version : Widescreen Avatar Repository

OK I want to start a thread where we can post some of the new widescreen avatars and share them with others who might not be able to make their own..
So post them here. For those who want to make them, the dimensions are 213 x 120 pixels, they can be animated gifs, but the limit is 200Kb in file size. This isn't the thread to ask about how to make them, so please if you don't know how, don't clutter up the thread asking how to do it. Its too complicated to go into in a thread like this.
The easiest way to set one of these as your avatar is to:
1. Right click on the avatar you want and choose "save image as.." in firefox, or "save picture as.." in Internet Explorer. That lets you save the picture to you computer. Remember where you save it to!
2. Go to your home page (the house icon at top of this page 40443), Then click on your current avatar. It will take you to a page where you can change it.
3. One of the options is "Upload Image from your computer". Click browse and find the file you saved in step 1. click on the file and choose "open" - you will be taken back to the avatar page.
4. Click "save changes"
PS - new members. you have to have 25 posts before you can have a custom avatar.

Can we make requests for avatars here?
(If not, you can just delete this, since you are all feng shui)
Sparko
January 31st 2007, 07:52 PM
I guess you can request them here as long as it doesn't turn into a big discussion where most of the posts are about requests instead of posting avatars. No guarantees that anyone will fill your requests though.

Here is my current avatar.
Also: I'm taking the exploding Petrellitar, Sparko. I shall use it when I'm finished with the sleek black & white look of my current Petrellitar. :thumb:
Edit: I'm attaching a picture of Eden. Could somebody please get as much of it as possible in a resized widescreen avatar? I don't have the software to do it myself. :sigh:

I have a request for another Edentar, from someone who can take screencaps. It seems Quanta likes the scene in which Eden brings Mohinder some mac 'n cheese -- can someone please make a screencap(maybe even in motion) of Eden bringing in the cheese?

Please, sir, could I have some Monk?
I can't actually alter the images, but here's a link to a bunch of screencaps from the first episode of Monk. If you find one you like, I'm sure someone could cut it down for you. Just remember that they'll need to cut off some of the top and/or bottom of the image to make it the right size for Tweb, so make sure you pick image(s) that can be cut like that without losing something important.
Edit: By right size, I mean right proportions.

I've never heard of the show. I looked real quick and found these and cropped them down. If there are any others that are not animated I can crop them to the right size.

This site can upload a gif up to 400Kb and then you can resize/crop/add text and stuff online. It's pretty good for a freebie.

I rented "The Stepford Wives," recently. Before shipping it back to Netflix, I made these. I think the Chris Walken one will serve you guys well in the Fraternity! Use it as an attachment whenever you are frustrated with us ladies!
There was a preview for "Lemony Snicket," so I whipped up a couple of those as well, including my current avatar, which I think is very moderator-ly.
Enjoy!

:hehe: Go back up to the Producers avatars. Look at the one where the dancers are doing the Nazi salute. Check out the back row. The one on the left puts up her arm like it is an emu puppet. The one behind her throws her arm out like she's trying to disconnect it from her shoulder...but her back arm flips like Jackie Gleason! The one behind her does a lovely flourish before throwing her arm up. It's fun to watch the differences.
I get mesmerized by shiny objects, too! :hehe:

Theo, do you rip these off DVD, or what? I made a couple a few weeks ago when I had a free trial version of some graphics program, but they turned out kinda grainy because I used Youtube videos.Actually a number of mine are from Youtube, the quality shouldn't be bad at all, as they're being reduced in size which actually improves the quality.
I use vdownloader (free app) to download clips from youtube. Then I get them looking right with virtualdub, and then I turn them into gifs with Animation shop, which came free with an old version of Paint Shop Pro, but it's a separate program these days.
