One of my kids came in today and told me Rowling has announced the date.
A quick jaunt over to her site confirms it.
JULY 21, 2007 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
WHOOT WHOOT
It's bittersweet thought. I feel like I felt when Drak Tower 7 came out....happy, yet sad to see the end of an era.

I'm considering a re-read of the series. It IS good fantasy, and it's fun. I own the first four books (got them all as a gift shortly after the fourth one came out), but sad to say, I haven't read the 5th or 6th books yet. The craze just never really hit me. I enjoyed the first four, and I know the entire plot of the 5th (thanks to having younger cousins who are all obsessed with the books), but... yeah.
I'll have to check my local library, I guess. I'm waaaay more of a historical fiction person when I am reading fiction, but it's good to just break out into some fun fantasy too!

You mean you haven't read the "Drak Tower" series? Philistine!
Anyway, one of my former students bought me the first five Harry Potter books for Christmas. I just finished reading number five today. So, after lent, I'll buy the sixth, and then read the seventh when it comes out.
Good times.

Hey, you good Christian people, open your eyes.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We stand on the brink of a great precipice. Our country, nay all mankind, are more prepared than ever to live lives of fulfillment and joy.
But, There are those among us who seek to disrupt this Utopia. People like British author, J.R.R. Rowling, and his books of evil and sorcery which are prevalent among youths of our society. These books are pure, concentrated evil, in paperback form, and only by understanding this evil, and rallying against it, can our world be saved. With that, I present to you 13 indisputable facts, which we will refer to as:

It's a spoof, Turgonian.
As to the books, meh. I enjoyed the first four, but she peaked with Goblet of Fire. It was too long, but it did have a good ratio of school-fun-magic-relationship stuff, which she's good at, and dark heavy plotting, which she isn't. Books five and six, which were also far too long, abandoned the former and dragged the latter into rather labyrinthine depths. I'll read book 7 when I can be bothered--probably after a friend of mine finishes her copy--but I'm not exactly leaping off rooftops.

I noticed it's a spoof, Smokering.
Wasn't the fourth book longer than the fifth and sixth books? Anyway, I didn't think they were too long. I finished them in one day! Love Rowling's writing...

No, the fifth was definitely longer. By like 100 pages.
I'll get it when it comes out, read it, and shrug.

I'll be confused and amazed, most likely. I was totally confused when Dumbledore was dead...
Plus, it is the last book of the seven...

Dumbledore is so not dead. Mark my words, he'll be back!
