Here's another digital drawing from Manga Studio Debut. It uses seven halftone layers: a brown series from beige to black, two blues, and a maroon. I like the way Manga Studio's "print aware" nature lets you achieve the depth of continuous-tone art an yet retain some of the look of a comic.
The subject is imaginary, but is based on the look and pose of old sepia tint photographs from the late 1800's. I drew her directly into Manga Studio using a Wacom tablet, without a reference. The "stars" are the brush which I initially used to rough in the features.
(And, yes, I know her right eye is a bit too close to her nose, I'm just too lazy to fix it right now. The use of multiple layers makes it a bit of a tedious process this late in the drawing. Let's just presume that such small flaws are often the hallmarks of great beauty )
