1) The PETA language police are harassing journalists who call animals "it:"
This afternoon, PETA dispatched a letter to Norm Goldstein, editor of The Associated Press Stylebook, suggesting that it is time to revise the book’s language guidelines—which currently characterize animals as inanimate objects—and bring the references in line with 21st century attitudes. Specifically, PETA points out that using "it" and "which" instead of the personal pronouns "he," "she," and "who" in reference to animals is inaccurate and outdated—particularly in a society that is increasingly recognizing that animals have inherent rights, legal standing, and individuality.

Rather than using gendered pronouns for animals, I hereby suggest that we start using "it", "which" and so on when speaking of members of PETA.

For a really good treatment of PETA, rent Penn and Teller's dvd where they "out" them.
Apparently they picket and protest outside of a California ASPCA leader's home because they kill animals that are not being adopted.
Penn and Teller point out their hypocrisy. Apparently they have an interoffice memo that says to be practical some animals must be put out of their misery.
It turns out PETA kills more animals than the CA ASPCA.
They are freaking hilarious.

What's ironic is that the www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com features a video clip wherein Pamela Anderson chastises KFC for having chickens that are artificially "top heavy."

They would be hilarious, if they weren't viciously slaughtering pets because they feel it to be somehow more "ethical" or "humane" to kill a domesticated animal then to allow the animal to do what it was bred to do: provide companionship for people.
Every time I come home to my dog and he flips out in excitement and brings me his harness so he can go for a walk and then rolls over on his side so I can scratch his belly, I think, "man, I'm sure he 'd rather be dead than profane his dignity by being my 'pet.'"
I hate PETA so much.

I would like to see that KFC. The one near us seems to be deep frying pigeons.

While I think I agree with Malkin's position, her characterization of a single letter suggesting a change in policy as harassment damages her credibility.

Peta has inspired me to be sure I eat at KFC at least once a month.

You know what I find odd?
Why do they call it Kentucky Fried Chicken?
They should be calling it Mormon Fried Chicken. It started in Utah, after all!

Any communication from PETA is clearly harassment.
