Well today I went to a meeting to begin the process for applying to become a resident chaplain. A resident chaplain is a seminary student who lives in a residential hall with undergraduate students here at Baylor. They perform a variety of duties, ranging from hosting Bible studies, to pastoral needs, to simply praying over hall meals and such. It's a very competitive application process. There are 8 positions opening up for next year out of a total 14 chaplains. They pretty much only open up when older chaplains graduate since once you are a chaplain you just have to go through a review process to keep your job. First you submit a resume, cover letter, and two recommendations. The second round is interviews with the people in the spiritual formation department. The last interview is with campus living and learning, so like hall directors and such. I'm very anxious about the initial application since the church I grew up in pretty much fell apart after I was confirmed. My old pastor is in retirement and I don't know where he is. I've got one recommender but I don't know who to ask for the second. I'm worried also that my resume just won't look as impressive as other people's resumes. I really want this job. So prayers, advice, etc. are appreciated.
