 I'd have to see the bill. In principle why not? If the oil companies aren't doing anything wrong they should be able to withstand scrutiny - as long as there's a reasonable reason to investigate. On the other hand if it's just a feel good political ploy then it's a waste of time and money.

Will it pass? Not sure. It can't withstand a veto - that last showdown was painful enough. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that.

On the other hand if it's just a feel good political ploy then it's a waste of time and money. It's a feel good political ploy. It only threatens enforcement if egregious over charging occurs, and they don't actually define what overcharging would be.

I hope it doesn't pass, as it does not address the demand issue in the US. It's just Congress pretending to be acting on the high gasoline prices. I am not amused! This is a significantly serious issue, both economically and security wise for this nation. And Congress is giving it lip service because the oil cartels in this nation don't want Americans to use less oil.

I agree it's probably a political ploy.

It sure better be vetoed.
If they're going to do all this 'price gouging' communism, it should be applied to ALL buisnesses.
They're just using oil as their scapegoat
