Luke 4:18 says captives are released, blind receive sight and prisoners are freed. Is this for now or after Jesus returns? Who does it refer to? How widespread is it? Not all the blind receive sight. Paul was held prisoner lots of times. I say it refers to the time period after the resurrection to life. It could mean now. But, if it does, how do we know? Any thoughts from you?

Hi OneFollowingHim. Thanks for the question!
My response is that Jesus gave us a glimpse of what the kingdom is like. There will be no blind people in the kingdom in its full fruition. There will be none in prison. There will be no captives. It's what we call realized eschatology in a sense. It's now and not yet both. We are just getting glimpses in the ministry of Christ.
Hope this helps!
