 Mark 7:6-13
"He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do aught for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye."
.
What group of people honor God with their lips?
What group of people worship God?
Why aren't Christians surprised at the corruption within Christianity?
Their are many, many warnings for Today, like this one, but Christians keep to church doctrines, even when the Word disagrees.
.
Why are there over 500 Christian denominations & non-denominations within Christianity that say they believe in the same book, but disagree with each other or the understanding of the bible.
Does God, whom is His Word, diagree with Himself?
Maybe it's time to STUDY for ourselves, the Truth, which is written in the bible.
:ahem:

There are a lot of harmfull extra biblical traditions. Im part of the Independent Baptits and their theological postion is that miracles ceased when the Cannon was closes. They suppored it by diliberte misrepresentation of the passage "Where there are tounges they will cease." My church does not hold this particular postion. There are also cases of different denominations holding very simalar views and merely holding a different name because of different origens. There are also admitiedly a few passages that lend themselves to different interpitation and conflict over them is understandable.
There are quite a few denominations which self study is very strongly encouradged, in mine and all other forms of baptists I know it goes by the idea of Universal Preisthood, which boils down to just that, everyone has an equel right to examine the scriptures and discuss them regaurdless of their title or training.
Its true we should all study for ourselves but we should not nessiarily put the many denominatons as a bad thing. Differnt denominations are not naturally hostile to each other, and occationally co-operate especailly when push comes to shove in the mission feild. Many cases are just different personalities, different people do things differently. Different emphisis and charcter ect.
Some hostility is naturally needed. We are against another local church whos pastor teaches he is infallible when he is preaching. There are a few really good people who go there (or where, a lot actually left for diverse reasones) but we are not going to aling ourselves with that kind of heracy, It would be wrong.
Where there are hostilities I agree they could, for the most part, be resolved by actuall attention to the Cannon. The troubles that cannot, like specifics of the end of the world, are not usually worth bein in too much of a scruff about.
All things said I agree with the body of your post and am nearly off topic with my points about denominations. Sorry.

 That was one of the best responses I have had over four different boards that I posted!
I usually don't post, but once or twice in ten years, but things haven't changed much at all.
The above post was NOT my opinion, nor my feelings, but the Truth. On 3/2/1989 I was taken up to the presences of God, though at the time I did not believe in God. He has and continues to given me the understanding of our times, with written scriptures, but this is not something Christians are willing to even consider. I truly am sorry that this means of communications is not open, because I would have shared much. I do want to thank you for not calling me a simpleton as some have, though I understand their position it is not right. I will not be posting again as I'm 59 and have not a lot of years left, but if you truly desire the Truth I will make my e-mail available to you.

Boy, 59 and not a lot of years left? Thats too bad, to have a terminal illness so young. I hope you get through it and live to a healthy age, but if God takes you early thats that. I hope you well in such a hard time.
