I'm looking for a concise logical and scriptural explaination of purpose and role of the Church in a believer's life. Thanks.

Hiya Colbert! Thanks for the question!
My opinion on this is to say that I am speaking of the church universal, what we would call the invisible church, and how there are certain places we call churches that are visible representations of that which is invisible.
How do we know what the church is to do then?
I would say we go to the epistles and look up the term "One another" and see all that Christians are to do for one another. Are we living the commandments the way that they ought? I would think it more enjoyable for you to go to an internet search engine and look up the phrase yourself as I once did and learn them that way.
Of course, our emphasis is to be to Christ first, which is what I think is going on in 1 John. 1 John 5 says that if we love God, we will love his children. The epistle also says that if we don't love our brother, we cannot love God. Strong words indeed that we should take into consideration.
Ultimately, the church is to make you more like Christ. It can be natural to ask if your church is doing that for you. It might be more poignant to ask if you are doing that for your church.
Hope this helps!
