View Full Version : Funniest Reality Show

Joe Schmo has got to be the funniest reality show on the air. It premeired earlier this week and if you are not aware it is about some guy who THINKS he is in a reality show competing for $100,000.00 unknown to him the whole show is staged. He is caught in this home with 8 actors who are pretending to be participants in the game. All the games are rigged and as many times as the actors goof up and there are inconsistencies like an actor getting out of role on accident, this guy is still absolutely clueless. It appears on SpikeTV if anyone is interested. :shifty:

I watched the last episode of For Love or Money 2 last night. It was pretty predictable.

The weepy daughter (Blonde) on Who wants to marry my dad made it the funniest reality show of all time.

My wife predicted the gay guys winning the Amazing Race from the go...

I miss Boot Camp. I wish they would do another one, and not a Celebrity one... Also the Mole was really good.

I wish I hadn't missed it either; I saw the promos while watching Slamball a week or two ago and thought it looked entertaining. BUT - if it's self-admittedly fake, then it's not technically a reality show, is it? Not that any of them have any real relationship to reality.

My faves, though: definitely Amazing Race (on the bubble for a return) and The Mole (unlikely to return, I fear), and to a lesser extent Survivor. I also really enjoyed Combat Missions on USA, and have been laughing a good bit at The Family on ABC.

This last was a clever idea - take an extended family of New York Italians, dump them in a mansion somewhere and let them duke it out for a million bucks. All under the watchful and unrelentingly snooty eye of the mansion's staff, who, unknown to the family members, are the panel of judges who decide who gets knocked out each week. And hosted by George Hamilton, to boot.

Spike - fka The National Network, fka The Nashville Network. It's billed as the network for guys, so you're not really supposed to find it. :teeth:

I LOVE the Amazing Race :thumb:

and The Mole (unlikely to return, I fear)

Saw it once, didn't really understand it :hrm:

and to a lesser extent Survivor.

I hated Survivor.

I also really enjoyed Combat Missions on USA

That was a cool show, unfortuneatly I missed most of it :frown:

Anyone watch the Restaurant?

Rocco was more interested in schmoozing the girls in the crowd than making sure his chefs had hot food...

Ah but there is the catch grasshopper. One of the persons is IN FACT real and not acting. He is the only contestant.
The premeire replayed last night and tonight is the second episode which already had me in stitches just by watching the preview.

Next to Most Extreme Elimination Challenge it is definately one of the best shows on and ironically enough they both share the same network with WWE RAW SpikeTV treats me very good. :shifty:

What exactly is the point of the show? Is there any prize he can actually win if the show is fake?

yxboom
September 9th 2003, 04:41 PM
The show is based on a faux reality show called "Lap of Luxury" and the goal is for $100,000.00 and i have no clue if at the end he wins it or just a really nice pimp jacket.

But, Master Po, if there is only one contestant, is there truly a contest at all? :imagine oriental smiley putting forearms on boiling cauldron:

Xmansmommy
September 17th 2003, 10:28 AM
They were all crying and I'm like, what are they crying about? :huh: :shrug: Anyway, I think they are all having second thoughts about what they're doing to Matt by participating in this "show." Of course the show will go on, but I think they are gonna be feelin all bad and stuff now. :frown:

Hi all!

Call me a snob & I do not mean to insult anyone but:

1. "Reality" shows :eww: are to reality what Twinkies are to real pastry :lolo: ;

2. I would rather have root canal (without anaesthesia!)/watch paint dry than watch one;

3. Whenever I think that TV can't possibly sink any lower, I am unpleasantly surprised;

4. "Reality" shows make professional wrestling look positively highbrow;

5. Newton Minnow's famous quotation about TV being a, "vast wasteland," springs to mind.

...When television is good, nothing--not the theater, not the magazines or newspapers--nothing is
better.

But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite you to sit down in front of your television
set when your station goes on the air and stay there without a book, magazine, newspaper, profit
and-loss sheet or rating book to distract you--and keep your eyes glued to that set until the station
signs off. I can assure you that you will observe a vast wasteland.

You will see a procession of game shows, violence, audience-participation shows, formula comedies
about totally unbelievable families, blood and thunder, mayhem, violence, sadism, murder, western
badmen, western good men, private eyes, gangsters, more violence and cartoons. And, endlessly,
commercials--many screaming, cajoling and offending. And most of all, boredom. True, you will see a
few things you will enjoy. But they will be very, very few. And if you think I exaggerate, try it...

:hi: ssv!! I don't watch tv personally. But when a friend suggested I watch The Joe Schmo Show, I knew I had to. And I haven't been disappointed....well, except last night when my favorite person was "removed" from the show. :bawl: This show is a bit different however. In that it is a "fake" reality show. The producers have created a show around one person, Matt. Everyone else on the show are actors. His fellow housemates, the producers, everyone is in on it. He is "clueless" about this being a show about him though, so it makes for a lot of laughs. :thumb:

Just my thoughts on the show though....I think Matt knows everything and he's playing the "players." Guess we'll see at the end. :teeth:
